Lausanne’s Pont Bessières with the Cathedral in the background.
Originally, there was just the road bridge. The metro bridge was only
recently inserted below the pre-existing road bridge.
I love both ideas: Inserting a second bridge into the first one, and
having a two storey bridge at all.
This picture was taken in front of a Berlin cemetery. Communal
watering cans are being stolen all the time, so everyone brings their
own and locks it to that rack with a bicycle lock.
A cemetery which could be well tended to using ten communal watering
cans thus requires a hundred - and nobody benefits except the makers
of watering cans and bicycle locks. It’s stuff like this which makes
me doubt the “sapiens” part in “homo sapiens”.
Bridge over the Tegeler Fliess in Berlin in the middle of the
night. This is a colour image, but the snow and the colour of the
street lights make it look almost like a sepia black/white image.
The snow was still falling heavily while I was taking this
picture. Some time later, I caught the very same scene, only with rain
and water instead of the snow: XXXXXX
The B14 highway near the Vaihingen Campus of the University of
Stuttgart. I had finished taking a series of pictures of the highway,
and had just stashed away the camera when I heard the police siren
approaching from the distance. I immediately started unpacking and
setting up the camera again. I just about managed to put it on the
bridge railing and pull the trigger, when the police car moved through
Note the reflections of the police car’s blue light on the car roof
and how the camera removes all traces of the car body.
